Hi all. Is anyone here a head swinger? I am and sometimes I do notice it and sometimes I don't.

Yah, sometimes, and, it feels great!

Yes it does! People sometimes will make a big deal out of it but I don't care. It's me, it's who I am and if you don't like it don't look at me.

You mean rock your head from side to side? I don't do that, but I used to hang it down when I was like two, my parents tell me. They were constantly chucking me under my chin to t each me to hold it up and now I do. Heh. But one of my friends is a head swinger and people always bug him about it and I think that's mean! WHo cares anyway? Lol! Hehehehe. So keep on, keep on! Rotfl!

I'm with you Somania. I did rock as a child and Mom kept calling me Stevey (after Stevey Wonder) to get me to stop. it's not that I don't like him, it was just annoying. Sometimes, I might catch myself doing it, but I always stop myself. I don't have my head down as much as some, but I do still occasionally do that. However, it's mostly when I'm alone and when I notice it, I become annoyed with myself. Mom says that when she sees a bunch of blind people together, she literally gets seasick from the rocking and swaying etc. And the sticking fingers in the yes. I used to do that but don't anymore.

I had some of those mannerisms as a child, but thankfully my parents taught me to break them. I guess if you want to exercise those habits in your own home, that's one thing. But head swinging and such things in public give the sighted a lousy impression of us.

I only did that as a little kid. I roock only when i"m worried or nervous, and spin in my chair here in my room by myself, though I am gradually breaking that habit.

I still poke my eyes when I am depressed.

ooooh girl you should not do that. if your eyes sink too much, they can start to rot in your head. i heard of that happening.

That may be a myth. It can cause other problems, though.

no i dont think it is a mith. i was reading somewhere else on the boards about poking eyes and someone on the zone had it happen i think.

Hmmm! I try not to be aheadswinger as you call it, but it often just happens if I get nervous, anxious, flustered or whatever. I also rocked like hell when I was a child, made everyone feel like they were on a boat, lol, but I'm trying my very hardest to curb the habbit now.

yuk! I have to go the other side of the room when one of my college friends does that, either that or i grab the fucker and wiggle it like crazy. It's degrading, putred and makes people think we're stupid.

I don't know anyone who's blind that does that. in fact, I don't even remember doing that as a child, nor do I do it now.

Post 20 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 23-Feb-2008 0:53:14

actually i agree with post 18 that rocking and eye poking and all of that stuff does make us look mentally challenged.

I was an eye poker and a head-hanger when I was younger. Still do it at times. I was abused pretty severly when I did it as a kid, so for some weird reason it's kinda still with me. I absolutely hate it when grown adults who are blind rock because it makes us all look like a bunch of rocking idiots.

Oh I use to poke my eyes really bad. once in a while I catch myself doing it especially when in deep thought. I rock my office chair, and I love to spin but never in public. I don't even rock when playing out in clubs.
